You&#039;re so right that most of the phrases essentially shift the blame off the speaker&#039;s shoulders. I&#039;ve always said to my conflict management students that conflict is a very ego-challenging place and a lot of what we do in reaction is driven by ego self-protection. And over-soothing our own egos feels and looks a lot like blame.</description>
